About Karmiel
Karmiel is a city in northern Israel. Established in 1964 as a development town, Karmiel is located in the Beit HaKerem Valley which divides upper and lower Galilee. In 2011, Karmiel had a population of 44,868. Karmiel was one of the first cities in Israel to be established according to an urban master plan. In 1981, Karmiel was awarded the Beautiful Israel prize. North of Karmiel are are the mountains of the Northern Galilee and to the South are the mountains of the Lower Galilee. There is the Heroism Museum in Karmiel and a dance festival which takes place every summer.
