About Auckland
Auckland, based around 1 large harbours, is a major city in the north of New Zealand’s North Island. In central Queen Street, the iconic Sky Tower has views of Viaduct Harbour, which is full of superyachts and lined with bars and cafes. Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park, is based around an extinct volcano and home to the formal Wintergardens. Mission Bay Beach is minutes from Downtown. Auckland has a subtropical climate, with warm, humid summers and mild, damp winters. The average daily maximum temperature is 13.9 °C (75.0 °F) in February and 14.9 °C (58.8 °F) in July. A number of arts events are held in Auckland. Important institutions include the Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland War Memorial Museum, New Zealand Maritime Museum, National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy, and the Museum of Transport and Technology.
