Built circa 1450, this UNESCO World Heritage site features stunning dry-stone constructions such as the Intihuatana stone, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows, reflecting the profound architectural and cultural achievements of the Inca civilization.
Kenko
A mysterious archaeological sanctuary whose name means “labyrinth” in Quechua, Kenko sprawls over 3,500 square meters atop Socorro Hill. It offers fascinating insights into Incan ceremonial practices.
Puca Pucara (The Pink Fortress)
Named after the reddish soil in the area, Puca Pucara served as a strategic tambo — a lodging and food storage complex essential for Incan administrative and military activities.
Tambomachay (Temple of Water)
This sacred site, also called the “Bath of the Ñusta,” features an intricate aqueduct system providing fresh water year-round. It was a religious site dedicated to the worship of water, vital for the prosperity of the Inca Empire.
Sacsayhuamán
Translating to “Satisfied Hawk,” Sacsayhuamán is a formidable fortress built from massive granite blocks. It served as a defense against invaders and is distinguished by its zigzagging terraces and imposing stone walls stretching up to 300 meters.
Koricancha
Once the most important temple dedicated to Inti, the Sun God, Koricancha was a symbol of religious and political power in the Inca Empire.
Pisac
A charming town famed for its colorful market, Pisac offers an authentic opportunity to experience local culture and craftsmanship, with artisans selling textiles, crafts, and fresh produce.
Urubamba Valley (Sacred Valley)
Renowned for its fertile lands and temperate climate, the Sacred Valley was vital to the Incas for agriculture. It remains a serene landscape dotted with traditional villages and ancient ruins.
Ollantaytambo
At the valley’s end lies Ollantaytambo, an impressive Inca fortress and living town. Its massive stone terraces and temples exemplify Incan architectural ingenuity. The site played a critical role during the Inca resistance against Spanish conquest.
Moray and Maras
Discover Moray, an ancient Incan agricultural laboratory featuring circular terraces designed to study crop growth at different altitudes.
