For years, Morocco was one of the most popular and exciting destinations for Passover programs. Travelers were drawn to its warm weather, fascinating history, beautiful resorts, and the chance to experience a very different part of the world while celebrating Pesach in a fully kosher environment.
After October 7, the number of programs in Morocco dropped sharply, and for a couple of seasons there were very few options available. This year, that trend has clearly reversed. Morocco is making a strong comeback for Passover, with close to 10 programs returning across multiple locations, including Marrakesh, El Jadida, Agadir, Tamuda Bay, and Marina Smir.
For travelers looking for something a little more adventurous than the usual Passover destinations, Morocco is once again firmly on the radar.
If you’re curious about all the different Passover offerings in Morocco this year, you can explore the full list of programs on our Morocco Passover page.
Why Morocco for Pesach?
Morocco offers a unique blend of cultures, landscapes, and history. It sits at the crossroads of Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, creating a mix of architecture, design, and traditions that feel completely different from what many travelers are used to.
There is also a deep Jewish history throughout the country, with historic synagogues, former Jewish quarters, and preserved cemeteries in many cities. For some travelers, visiting Morocco connects them to family roots or centuries-old Jewish communities that once thrived across North Africa.
From a travel perspective, Morocco works well for Pesach:
- Pleasant spring weather
- A wide range of resort-style hotels
- Interesting sightseeing and cultural excursions
- Easy opportunities for guided touring during Chol Hamoed
- A fully immersive kosher environment within the program itself, including Moroccan-inspired cuisine prepared within the program under supervision
One of the highlights of celebrating Pesach in Morocco is the way the holiday concludes. Every program traditionally ends with a festive Mimouna celebration, marking the return to chametz with music, singing, colorful displays, and a joyful atmosphere that brings the entire group together. It’s a uniquely Moroccan way to close out the holiday and something many travelers look forward to as a memorable finale to the trip.

Exploring Morocco’s Passover Locations
Each Moroccan destination offers a slightly different experience, which is part of what makes the country so appealing for Passover travel.
Marrakesh
Marrakesh is lively, colorful, and full of energy. The old medina is packed with winding alleyways, markets, courtyards, and historic buildings. Visitors can explore traditional architecture, gardens, artisan workshops, and important Jewish sites. It’s ideal for travelers who enjoy culture, history, and a vibrant city atmosphere.
Popular activities often include guided walking tours, market visits, gardens, and day trips into the surrounding countryside or Atlas foothills.

What to Do During Chol Hamoed
Many programs build in guided outings and optional excursions, so you can get out and explore without worrying about logistics. Depending on the location, that might include:
- Visiting historic medinas and markets
- Exploring Jewish heritage sites
- Scenic coastal walks and viewpoints
- Atlas Mountain or countryside day trips (depending on location)
- Gardens, palaces, and architectural landmarks
- Relaxing at the hotel pool, spa, or beach
Because all meals are provided by the program, travelers can enjoy full days out and return to the hotel for kosher dining and holiday programming.
Morocco is clearly finding its way back onto the Passover travel map. With close to ten programs now spread across Marrakesh, El Jadida, Agadir, Tamuda Bay, and Marina Smir, travelers once again have real choice, whether they’re drawn to culture, beaches, or a relaxed resort setting.
