Saint-Laurent is a borough of the city of Montreal, the largest in area of Montreal's boroughs. Prior to its 2002 merger, it was a city. Saint-Laurent is one of Quebec's (and Canada's) most ethnically mixed areas, with some 166 ethnicities reported to live there in relative harmony. Saint-Laurent is the second-largest employment hub within the metropolitan region, after downtown Montréal.
Beth Ora the synagogue in the area was inaugurated in 1957 having been founded and planned from 1953. The shul is set in a leafy suburbs environment with family houses surrounded by gardens. Today 10% of the population is registered as being from Israel.

JOFY, or "Jewish Observant Friendly" Establishments are lodging establishments offering special services for Jewish Observant guests such as Shabbat meals, accommodation on lower floors and regular keys for the rooms. It can also be a NON KOSHER establishment located in walking distance from the local Shul, community or kosher restaurants area.
