Details about the aera:

Lengnau, an idyllic farming village with 2500 inhabitants has a very special meaning for Jewish Switzerland. Here as well as in the neighbour village of Endingen the Jews received permission to settle in the 17th – 19th centuries. The beautifully renovated synagogues in the village center of Lengnau and Endingen remind of this meaningful times. Over 100 years ago a Jewish retirement and care house was built in Lengnau. This institution has been renamed Margoa a while ago.

The Guesthouse is very easy to find, with quick and easy access from the cities Zurich and Basle by highway with your (rented) car or by train. You can be met at any airport or train station in Switzerland through our guide (with an extra charge) .

We offer Noffi’s guests an additional jewel: 2- or 3 days sightseeing culture tours through Jewish Switzerland and, departing from Lengnau with visits of the village (home to one of the oldest Jewish communities in Switzerland, the beautifully renovated synagogue at the heart of the village is its landmark), Endingen (the second “Jewish village” of its day, the restored synagogue, with its rare bell-tower), Basle, with its Jewish Museum, the Hotel Trois Rois (3 Koenige), where Herzl dreamt of a Jewish state, and the Casino, historic place of the first Zionist congress, Zurich with its well-established Jewish structure - Kosher shops, restaurants, book shop and the old city where Jewish used to live in the 12th century, as well as the Jewish Museum in Hohenems and Gailingen. All this with local Jewish guides also in English/Hebrew.

Walking Tours:

Lengnau countryside provides beautiful walking trails for short or long walking tours, also accessible with baby prams.
